About the course

The primary focus of this course is teaching students to use Active Listening Skills to greatly reduce risks associated with handling hostage, kidnapping, barricade, and/or suicide situations and increase the options available to management in dealing with such events. This course explains the basic premise of crisis intervention, fundamentals of crisis negotiation, types of crisis incidents, risk assessment, and terminology as it relates to crisis negotiation. Students will learn the importance of working as a team and the roles of each team member.
